Backup will be application consistent assuming there is a VSS writer installed for the application. For example, when you install SQL Server, a VSS writer for SQL Server is automatically included....

i think if the snapshot is done with "quiesce filesytem" mode - i believe it should work -- additionally if you put the DB in hot backup mode this should be even safer to revert HTH?
