vRanger to VDP

Has anyone switched from vRanger to VDP? How did you handle the transition with backups? We use vRanger today with DDBoost and plan to use DD with VDP as well but I'm concerned with space utilization...

Technically speaking the data is already on the DataDomain so VDP will only send block changes. Therefore I would expect minimal extra space usage.  You can confirm by backing up a VM with VDP already...

It is set to fully automated and space treshold is set to 75% utilized space per datastore, however the utilized space for the datastore is at 80% because of the replication replicas.

VDP Datastore sizing

If i'll be backing up all virtual machines to a Data Domain, what size does my VDP storage need to be on the host storage system? Do I need to calculate it based on the VMs that will be backed up?

Hi, No, you can't but: Try with Openfiler (Openfiler | Open Source Storage Managment Appliance) You can create shared Storage and trick to vCenter. HA, DRS, vMotion... is now allowed.
