I think from experience (now) that if you shut down a VDP appliance it deregisters itself from vCenter so that eventually you will no longer see the appliance's name in the list.

This is a VSS timing issue. You dont want your Veeam backups running at the same time your BEXEC job is running. My opinion, ditch backup exec. Veeam is a way better solution.

Can you check if the VM has a CD mounted and if yes uncheck the CD. Also Rescan the datastore across the cluster and check if backup works. Even after these steps if it fails, send me the vdp support...

I would rather recommend you to do a V2V conversion using VMware converter to ensure synchronization happens as well. Clone should be fine as well

Thanks for the reply. No CD mounted and rescan changed nothing. Extracting the log ends up with a 220MB file, but corrupted. Tried extraction 3 times. Thanks

Restarting VDP hangs at starting VDP appliance systems.

estimnated time to complete: 10 minutes. But it has been much longer than 10 minutes. Powered off and powered on. Didn't help

yes it does take time more than that. I had around 30 minutes.Wait for it power on patiently..The reason the boot time is more since it needs to load stripes, indexes and checkpoints
